Australia hosts 20 promising athletes at Pho3nix Future camp

The Pho3nix Foundation has concluded its first Pho3nix Future Camp of the year, bringing together 20 promising youth athletes from across Australia and New Zealand in a five-day fully funded athletic and personal development experience to equip them for a life in elite sport. Held from 12th to 16th April on the Gold Coast, Australia, this is the sixth edition of the Pho3nix Future Camps that have been held since 2021 across Europe, Asia, Oceania and Africa, and the second time in Australia after Future Camp Sydney last year. Hosted by MANA Global sports director and Commonwealth Games gold and Olympic silver medallist John Steffensen alongside Australian Ironman Hall of Fame member and 15-time iron distance triathlon champion Belinda Granger, Pho3nix Future Camp Gold Coast gave athletes ages 15 to 18 years old access to valuable insights and inspiration from Olympic, world, and sport champions. Pho3nix Kids set to shine in Yorkshire

The partnership between The Brownlee Foundation and Pho3nix Kids will see more schools involved and children taking part in triathlon in Yorkshire in 2023. Pho3nix Kids by Brownlee Foundation events are well-established in the Yorkshire region, with the first Leeds event in 2014, Bradford introduced in 2015 and York and Hull in 2017. This year, five mini-triathlons are set for May, commencing with Leeds on the 15th at the John Smeaton Leisure Centre, Bradford on the 16th at Bradford Grammar School, York on the 17th at York Sport Village, and Hull on the 18th at Hymers College before returning to Leeds on the 19th, this time at the John Charles Centre for Sport. Only a month after registrations opened the events were well oversubscribed, with 241 schools and 7,551 participants having already signed up. With 43,000 children introduced to triathlon through one of their events since the start of the Foundation, this also puts them well on their way toward achieving the milestone number of 50,000. Pho3nix Kids Triathlon Philippines Draws First-Timers and Shoe Donations for Children in Need

Over 230 children raced the second Pho3nix Kids Triathlon Philippines this weekend. Held at Fontana Leisure Park in Clark Freeport Zone on April 15, the multisport festival attracted veteran and beginner youth athletes ages 5 to 17 from hundreds of miles around to compete in triathlon, duathlon, and fun run categories. In line with sport nonprofit Pho3nix Foundation’s thrust to break down barriers for kids participating with sport, each paid entry sponsors a free entry for children from partner community schools and grassroots outreach. For this event, paid registrations tripled, allowing more children from Air Force City Elementary School, Air Force City High School, Centro Fidel International School, and the indigenous Aeta community to come join the active fun. “This is the second time my kids participated in the Pho3nix races,” says parent Rhia Stawicki. “It’s a great opportunity for them to be outdoors, engage in physical activities and to socialize with other kids. The Pho3nix Foundation will kick off its first Pho3nix Future Camp of the year on 12-16 April on the Gold Coast, Australia, gathering 18 promising youth athletes from across Australia and New Zealand in a five-day fully funded experience aimed to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and personal development needed to flourish in a professional sports career and beyond. The Pho3nix Future Camp Gold Coast will be hosted by MANA Global sports director and Commonwealth Games gold and Olympic silver medallist John Steffensen alongside Australian Ironman Hall of Fame member and 15-time iron distance triathlon champion Belinda Granger. The supporting list of mentors and special guests include Olympic gold medal canoe sprinter Ken Wallace, two-time Olympic bronze medal swimmer Alex Graham, Surf Ironman champion Ky Hurst, swimming world champion Jenna Strauch, two-time Super Bike champion Troy Herfoss, and four-time triathlon World Champion, MANA Global CEO, and Pho3nix Foundation board member Chris McCormack.
