Pho3nix Kids events expand into Africa

The Pho3nix Foundation is thrilled to announce Pho3nix Kids Fun Runs Ghana, a momentous step toward promoting children’s health, fitness and wellbeing in the nation.
Launched in partnership with Ono Sports Foundation, Pho3nix Kids Fun Runs Ghana will be held on three dates throughout the year with its first event scheduled for February 10, 2024 at the Sutherland Children’s Park, Accra. Follow-up dates shall also be announced in the coming weeks with the release of the official school calendar year for 2024.
Free for children 5 to 16 years old with age-appropriate distance categories (1km, 3km, 5km, and 7km), Pho3nix Kids Fun Runs Ghana are set to bring the joy of running to 350 young participants at each event through collaboration with local schools in Accra – and eventually other major cities in Ghana and throughout the African continent.
Pho3nix Foundation board member and Mana Global chairman Chris McCormack states, “Pho3nix is committed to creating a worldwide movement engaging children in sport and physical activity, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Sport is for all, and we are very excited about this opportunity to give kids in Ghana another avenue to pursue it.”
Nicholas Appiah, CEO of the Ono Sports Foundation, says, “We believe in the power of sports to transform lives… For many kids in Ghana, sports participation is not just a pastime; it’s a lifeline. It provides a sense of purpose, a means to escape the challenges of everyday life, and an avenue to dream beyond their current circumstances and engage in a constructive, empowering activity.”
Pho3nix Kids Fun Runs Ghana is the Pho3nix Foundation’s first foray into mass participation events in Africa and part of its worldwide efforts to encourage youth involvement in sport. The sport nonprofit currently runs Pho3nix Kids programs across eight nations on two continents, touching the lives of half a million children in the United Kingdom, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Poland, Australia, Thailand and the Philippines.
