The Pho3nix Foundation will kick off its first Pho3nix Future Camp of the year on 12-16 April on the Gold Coast, Australia, gathering 18 promising youth athletes from across Australia and New Zealand in a five-day fully funded experience aimed to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and personal development needed to flourish in a professional sports career and beyond.
The Pho3nix Future Camp Gold Coast will be hosted by MANA Global sports director and Commonwealth Games gold and Olympic silver medallist John Steffensen alongside Australian Ironman Hall of Fame member and 15-time iron distance triathlon champion Belinda Granger.
The supporting list of mentors and special guests include Olympic gold medal canoe sprinter Ken Wallace, two-time Olympic bronze medal swimmer Alex Graham, Surf Ironman champion Ky Hurst, swimming world champion Jenna Strauch, two-time Super Bike champion Troy Herfoss, and four-time triathlon World Champion, MANA Global CEO, and Pho3nix Foundation board member Chris McCormack.
The athletes – nine boys and nine girls ages 15 to 18 – hail from 12 diverse sports: athletics, AFL, cricket, cross-country, motorsport, parkour, tennis, track cycling, trampoline gymnastics, triathlon, surf lifesaving, and surfing.
McCormack says, “We now have 100 alumni and counting from our Pho3nix Future Camps around the world going on to pursue their dreams in sport and life. These young athletes are at a crucial crossroads in their sport journey; Pho3nix Future Camps give them that intensive mentorship from former athletes to emerging athletes, building them up so they can take the next step.”
Each day of the Pho3nix Future Camp offers an incredible opportunity to learn from world-class athletes, mentors, and business leaders to help these young athletes reach their potential. The Gold Coast camp features sessions on performance nutrition, goal-setting and planning, sponsorships, and public speaking and media training, as well as team-building activities and a visit to the Australian Institute of Sport.
Pho3nix Future Camp is part of the Pho3nix Future Program, which identifies and assists promising juniors to help them with both athletic and life skills as they pursue a career in professional sport. For more information, visit https://pho3nixfoundation.com/our-activities/pho3nix-future/
