The Pho3nix Foundation and Mana Sports and Entertainment Group are thrilled to announce the triumphant conclusion of the 2023/24 season of the Pho3nix Junior Excellence Program (Pho3nix JX) in partnership with Swimming Australia.
Pho3nix JX is dedicated to fostering healthy habits, mindsets, and attitudes in young swimmers by recognizing their achievements and inspiring them, building commitment and enthusiasm for the journey into senior swimming and paving the way for success both in and out of the pool. Conducted through local swimming clubs and dedicated clinics throughout Australia, the program has seen more than 200,000 participants from the ages of 9 to 13 take part since 2007, including many of Australia’s best swimmers over the past decade.
Athletes this age are highly engaged – one would even say “obsessed” – with swimming, and Pho3nix JX helps nurture ambitious young talent during a critical age. With an average participant age of 11 years old and 46% of them having international aspirations, Pho3nix JX is seen to play a key role in the development of Australian swimmers on the pathway toward the 2026 Commonwealth Games Victoria and the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane.
Among the 14,614 swimmers recognized this year, 2,000 achieved Gold status, 2,800 earned Silver, 3,200 received Bronze, and 6,500 were awarded Blue.
Pho3nix JX also delivered clinics in every state and territory across Australia, a highlight of the season drawing a total of 2,224 swimmers to 18 events. The dedication of participants was evident, with the furthest logging 697 kilometers (approximately 7 hours and 21 minutes) of travel to a clinic.
This season also saw record-breaking sell-out times for the Olympic/Paralympic Trials Clinic, which sold out in just 3 minutes and 24 seconds, the Open Nationals Clinic in 57 minutes and 43 seconds, and the Short Course Clinic in 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 37 seconds.
The Pho3nix Foundation is proud to partner with SwimAus through Pho3nix JX in supporting and inspiring young swimmers, helping them build a strong foundation in sport and beyond. The achievements and participation this season highlight the partnership’s positive impact and set the stage for continued success in the future.
