Triathlon icon Alistair Brownlee OBE joins sporting royalty at the 2026 Pho3nix Sport with Purpose Charity Gala

One of the greatest triathletes of all time, double Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee OBE, will join a glittering line-up of global sporting icons at the 2026 Pho3nix Sport with Purpose Charity Gala in London this November.
Taking place at The Peninsula London on Friday 20 November, the Gala will bring together champions whose achievements have defined generations of sport, alongside leaders from business, entertainment and philanthropy, for an unforgettable evening in support of the Pho3nix Foundation.
For Brownlee, the night carries a particularly special significance.
Few athletes have left a mark on triathlon quite like the British great. Brownlee delivered one of the defining moments of the London 2012 Olympic Games when he stormed to gold in front of a home crowd, before making history four years later in Rio by successfully defending his title.
In doing so, he became the first triathlete to win two individual Olympic gold medals, an achievement that cemented his place among Britain’s most decorated endurance athletes.
His extraordinary career also includes two elite World Championship titles, a Commonwealth Games title and three European Championship titles, with his relentless racing style helping take triathlon to new audiences around the world.
But Brownlee’s sporting legacy extends far beyond medals, finish lines and podiums.
Together with his brother Jonathan, he has used the platform created by their extraordinary careers to give tens of thousands of children the opportunity to experience sport for themselves.
Alistair and Jonny established the Brownlee Foundation following the London 2012 Olympic Games, driven by a simple ambition: to inspire children from all backgrounds to become active and give them the opportunity to experience swimming, cycling, running and triathlon.
Just under 100,000 children have since taken part in a Brownlee Foundation event, turning the brothers’ Olympic legacy into something that reaches far beyond elite sport.
That mission has also created a powerful connection with the Pho3nix Foundation.
The Brownlee Foundation and Pho3nix Foundation joined forces in 2022, bringing together two organisations united by a belief that every child should have the opportunity to experience sport, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Through Pho3nix Kids by Brownlee Foundation, thousands of primary school children have been given the chance to swim, bike and run through free, inclusive and non-competitive events designed to make their first experience of triathlon a memorable one.
The partnership has also evolved beyond event day, creating pathways to help children continue participating, develop their skills and discover further opportunities to be active within their communities.
For Brownlee, attending the Gala is therefore about much more than celebrating an extraordinary sporting career. It is a chance to champion a cause he has actively helped bring to life.
Alistair Brownlee said: “Sport has given me so much throughout my life, and I’ve seen through the Brownlee Foundation just how powerful that first positive experience can be for a child. Our relationship with the Pho3nix Foundation has allowed us to give thousands more young people the chance to get involved, have fun and hopefully discover a love of being active that stays with them.
“That’s why the Sport with Purpose Gala means so much. It brings people together around a shared belief in what sport can do, while raising the support needed to create even more opportunities for young people. I’m really looking forward to being part of it in London.”
The Pho3nix Sport with Purpose Charity Gala is the Pho3nix Foundation’s flagship annual fundraising event, supporting programmes that give children and young people greater access to sport and physical activity.
And Brownlee will be in exceptional company.
Joining him at The Peninsula London will be six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen, four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome, Britain’s most successful female Olympian Dame Laura Kenny, three-time Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty, two-time Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington OBE, Rugby World Cup-winning England captain Lawrence Dallaglio, fellow Olympic triathlon champion and brother Jonny Brownlee and former England cricket captain Sir Alastair Cook.
Adding even more Olympic star power will be Britain’s celebrated Super Saturday trio – Jessica Ennis-Hill, Sir Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford, who famously claimed three Olympic gold medals for Great Britain within 44 unforgettable minutes at London 2012.
From the basketball courts of Chicago and the mountains of the Tour de France to the Olympic velodrome, athletics track, swimming pool, rugby field, cricket pitch and triathlon course, the 2026 Gala will bring an extraordinary collection of sporting champions together under one roof.
Guests attending the Gala will enjoy an exclusive live auction featuring extraordinary sporting experiences and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, while supporters around the world will also have the opportunity to participate through an online auction.
Individuals, brands and organisations wishing to contribute auction items or experiences are invited to support the Pho3nix Foundation’s fundraising efforts and help create more opportunities for children and young people through sport.
