Ruben Roldan claims three more Guinness World Record titles

6 Feb 2025

After entering the Guinness World Record books in February last year for making the most number of consecutive retour jumps, Pho3nix athlete Ruben Roldan has earned not just one, but three more Guinness World Records titles in a single day.

The Spaniard already stands out among fellow parkour athletes, because where most have two legs, he has had only one since the age of nine when he lost the other one in a tractor accident.

Yet he continues to rise to the demands of his chosen sport, claiming Guinness World Records titles under the LA1 impairment classification for challengers who have had a unilateral amputation above the knee.

In November 2024 with Guinness World Records Adjudicator Will Munford bearing witness, Ruben achieved the highest running jump onto a platform (LA1) at an astonishing 1.36 metres, balancing atop the platform after jumping up to make the attempt valid.

His next record attempt was for the farthest standing jump parkour dash (LA1), where he needed to beat 1.82 metres to break the record. Jumping from one platform to another, landing on his hands and dashing over it, he cleared the initial distance with ease. He then attempted 2.47 and 2.66 metres effortlessly before achieving a final record-setting distance of 2.76 metres.

For Ruben’s final record attempt of the day, the highest vertical leap with a running start (LA1), he not only breached 1.10 metres to claim the record for himself, but kept increasing the height with every succeeding leap to achieve a final height of 1.30 metres.

The same determination and passion that propelled Ruben out of the hospital bed and onto parkour courses all around the world drives him not just to set new Guinness World Records titles, but to go as high and as far as he physically could. That is the mark of a Pho3nix athlete, and the Pho3nix Foundation is proud to support Ruben as he continues to rise above and fulfil his dreams.

“So, I encourage from here anyone who has one leg or another difficulty, because everything is possible,” Ruben said. “You just have to have the desire to take on the world. It doesn’t matter what people tell you, because the only one who knows what you can do is you.”

The Pho3nix Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on helping children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, stay healthy and active through sports and physical activity. Its flagship programs create a complete ecosystem for development through sport – from simply partaking in the joy of being active to achieving the pinnacle of human potential.
