The Pho3nix Foundation is proud to partner with Austrian professional ice hockey team Vienna Capitals to launch the Pho3nix Vienna Capitals Youth Ice Hockey Program, further growing its footprint of children’s programs in Europe and continuing its global mission of breaking down barriers to sports participation.
Launched in November 2024, the Pho3nix Vienna Capitals Youth Ice Hockey Program offers Austrian youth a pathway to a lifelong love of ice hockey and the many physical and mental benefits it brings. As part of a long-term plan to revolutionise youth sport development in the region, it aims to address recognised concerns in the development of junior ice hockey in eastern Austria: lack of ice time and equipment, poor infrastructure, high costs, and meagre media attention.
The Pho3nix Foundation works with the Vienna Capitals as the flagship club and seven other ice hockey organizations to provide youth players with essential equipment, dedicated ice time and a season-end tournament at the Vienna Capitals’ home arena, coaching development for current club coaches and former players, and inspiration and exposure to the players and coaches from the Vienna Capitals.
Through this partnership with the Vienna Capitals, the Pho3nix Foundation also commits to providing scholarships to young children from underprivileged backgrounds so they have the opportunity to participate regardless of their socio-economic status.
The participating clubs are: the Stock City Oilers (Stockerau), UEC Dragons Mödling, Eisbrecher Klosterneuburg, Hollabrunn Wild Hogs, ENZO (Eishockey Nachwuchs Zentrum Ost), the Mad Dogs Wiener Neustadt and the Wiener Eislauf-Verein. The Pho3nix Vienna Capitals Youth Foundation is also supported by the Vienna and Lower Austrian Ice Hockey Associations.
With programs in 17 nations across Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania, the Pho3nix Foundation’s outreach into Austria using the sport of ice hockey as a vehicle for positive change expands its global mission to inspire and empower children through sports.
