London 2012 Super Saturday legends reunite for the 2026 Pho3nix Sport with Purpose Charity Gala

Three of the stars behind one of the most memorable nights in British sporting history will reunite in London this November, with Sir Mo Farah, Greg Rutherford MBE and Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill confirmed as special guests at the 2026 Pho3nix Sport with Purpose Charity Gala.

On 4 August 2012, Farah, Rutherford and Ennis-Hill won three athletics gold medals for Great Britain within the space of just 44 minutes at the London Olympic Stadium, creating the extraordinary sequence of events that became known as ‘Super Saturday’.

Ennis-Hill started the celebrations by completing a dominant performance in the heptathlon, before Rutherford claimed long jump gold. Farah then brought an unforgettable evening to a close with victory in the 10,000m in front of a packed home crowd.

Fourteen years later, the three Olympic champions will come together again in London at The Peninsula London on Friday 20 November, joining an exceptional line-up of sporting names in support of the Pho3nix Foundation and its work to create healthier, happier futures for children through sport.

“Super Saturday will always be one of the most special nights of my life and it’s incredible to think it was 14 years ago,” Rutherford said.

“To be back in London with Jess and Mo and to have the opportunity to share some of those memories while supporting the work of the Pho3nix Foundation, will make this a very special evening.”

Super Saturday remains one of the defining moments of London 2012, but the achievements of Farah, Rutherford and Ennis-Hill extended well beyond that famous evening.

Farah went on to win the 5,000m later at the London Games, completing an Olympic distance double he would repeat four years later in Rio. Ennis-Hill returned to the Olympic podium at Rio 2016, winning silver in the heptathlon, while Rutherford added Olympic bronze in Rio to a career that also included World, European and Commonwealth titles.

Their return to London together brings back memories of a night that captured the attention of a nation, while also reflecting what sits at the heart of the Pho3nix Foundation: the ability of sport and sporting role models to inspire young people to get active and discover what they are capable of.

Through its programmes around the world, the Foundation works to give children and young people greater access to sport and physical activity, helping them build confidence and develop healthy habits that can stay with them throughout their lives.

Pho3nix Foundation Board Member and two-time IRONMAN World Champion Chris McCormack said having all three Super Saturday champions together would bring something particularly special to this year’s Gala.

“It’s a privilege to have three British sporting icons like Jess, Greg and Mo in the room supporting the work of the Pho3nix Foundation,” McCormack said.

“Super Saturday was one of those rare moments in sport that transcended the events themselves and captured the imagination of an entire country. Guests can look forward to walking down memory lane with three athletes who were at the centre of that extraordinary night, while coming together to help us create opportunities for the next generation to experience the power of sport for themselves.”

Farah, Rutherford and Ennis-Hill join an already impressive guest list for the 2026 Gala.

Among those confirmed to attend are Britain’s most successful female Olympian Dame Laura Kenny, six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen, four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome, two-time Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington OBE, Rugby World Cup-winning England captain Lawrence Dallaglio, Olympic triathlon champions Alistair and Jonny Brownlee and former England cricket captain Sir Alastair Cook.

Together, the line-up brings some of the biggest names and most memorable moments in international sport to one room for the Pho3nix Foundation’s flagship annual fundraising event.

Taking place at The Peninsula London on Friday 20 November, the Gala will bring together figures from sport, business, entertainment and philanthropy, with funds raised supporting programmes that give more children and young people the opportunity to participate in sport.

Guests will also have the opportunity to take part in an exclusive live auction featuring sporting experiences and unique opportunities, alongside an online auction open to supporters around the world.

Individuals, brands and organisations wishing to contribute auction items or experiences are invited to support the Foundation’s fundraising efforts.
