Pho3nix athletes took to the sporting world’s largest stage at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, exemplifying the Pho3nix ethos of rising above circumstance to reach for their dreams and inspire the next generation.
Pho3nix Team members Georgia Taylor-Brown and Kate Waugh represented Great Britain for triathlon. In the women’s individual race Waugh logged a Top 15 finish in her first-ever Olympic Games, while Taylor-Brown finished 6th among world’s best, a remarkable comeback one year since a foot injury derailed her Olympic campaign and threatened her love for the sport. Five days later, Taylor-Brown took her place in the mixed relay to keep the nation in contention for an eventual Olympic bronze to add to her silver and gold from Tokyo.
Pho3nix also supports elite athletes on the Olympic journey through the Pho3nix Athlete Program. In their first Games showing, South Africa’s Jamie Riddle finished 25th in the men’s individual triathlon, compatriot Miyanda Maseti ranked 24th in women’s BMX racing, and Swiss star Jenjira Stadelmann competed in women’s individual badminton to finish 14th.
Tayleb Willis (AUS) from the Pho3nix Junior Team was one of the youngest Pho3nix athletes to qualify for Paris. With 5th-place finishes in both the qualifying and repechage heats for the men’s 110m hurdles, Willis now has the Olympic experience under his belt to drive him onward to Los Angeles 2028.
The Pho3nix Foundation would also like to congratulate the following Pho3nix alumni for their Olympic performances.
The Paris Paralympic Games commence on the 28th of August, and one more Pho3nix athlete will make her Paralympic debut. Alexa Leary (AUS) will compete in the women’s 50m and 100m freestyle S9, where she is one of her nation’s top medal contenders.
