Lawrence Dallaglio Highlights Power of Sport on the High Performance Podcast

8 wrz 2026

Former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio is confirmed to attend the 2026 Pho3nix Sport with Purpose Charity Gala in London this November.

Dallaglio’s appearance on The High Performance Podcast this week offers a candid reflection on the experiences that have shaped his life and the role sport has played in helping him navigate them.

The former England captain also discusses his work with Dallaglio RugbyWorks and its partnership with the Pho3nix Foundation, which is supporting the program’s expansion in Liverpool.

For Dallaglio, the connection between sport and personal development is deeply rooted in his own experience. He speaks openly about joining a rugby club following the loss of his sister at the age of 16, explaining that he did not initially join because of a passion for rugby. He needed a family and a community, and found both through the sport.

That experience has remained central to his work with young people through Dallaglio RugbyWorks, which uses rugby, mentoring and skills development to support young people facing exclusion from mainstream education and help them move towards education, employment and training.

The partnership with the Pho3nix Foundation is helping bring this work to more young people in Liverpool, expanding its school and community provision with additional staff and year-round opportunities.

Dallaglio highlighted the Foundation’s work around the world and its shared commitment to giving young people opportunities through sport.

“The Pho3nix Foundation is an incredible foundation that partners with charities like RugbyWorks… They’ve seen what RugbyWorks does and said, ‘Right, we want to power you in Liverpool.’ So we are now expanding the program in the northwest of England. So that’s something that I’m continually keen to support and will continue to support because my name is above the door.”

The partnership is part of a wider Pho3nix commitment to supporting young people through sport and working alongside organisations that share that ambition.

Dallaglio will continue that connection at the 2026 Pho3nix Sport with Purpose Charity Gala at The Peninsula London on 20 November, where he is confirmed to attend alongside an extraordinary line-up from across the world of sport.

Among those already confirmed are six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen, four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome, two-time Olympic swimming champion Rebecca Adlington, Olympic triathlon champions Alistair and Jonny Brownlee and former England cricket captain Sir Alastair Cook.

Together with the Foundation’s ambassadors, partners and supporters, they will come together for an evening dedicated to creating healthier, happier futures for children through sport.
