The most recent Pho3nix Sports Awards recognised Australian youth swimmer Mia Hogan with the Pho3nix Kids Award, presented to a participant from any Pho3nix Kids initiative who exemplifies what it means to rise – and she has been soaring.
A dual Pho3nix Junior Excellence (JX) Gold qualifier since the 2022/23 season, Mia debuted on the international scene in the 2024 World Para Series and has rapidly emerged as one to watch on the road to Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, LA Paralympic Games 2028 and beyond.
In April she dominated at the Australian Age Championships with eight golds, and followed up in June with exemplary performances at the Australian Swimming Trials. Mia set a new Australian record for the girls’ 13-years 400m freestyle, clocking 5:06.29 in the S13 category for visually impaired athletes. She also finished third in the women’s 50m freestyle multiclass, which Pho3nix Athlete Program alumna Alexa Leary (S9) won.
Pho3nix JX – delivered in partnership with Swimming Australia – celebrates outstanding performances by young swimmers through local clubs and clinics nationwide. It aims to inspire the next generation of champions by providing encouragement and recognition at a pivotal time in their sporting journey.
Some of the biggest names in Aussie swimming have come through the JX Program. Thanks to the Pho3nix Foundation’s backing since 2023, thousands more young swimmers like Mia are diving into the sport with the same opportunities to dream big and build their own golden path – in the pool and beyond.
